Vanitas Painting: Lemon and Candle by Gyunay Aliev

Aliev, Gyunay

This vanitas painting, Lemon and Candle, by Gyunay Aliev is a carefully crafted oil on wood panel, measuring 30 × 24 cm and sold unframed. Executed in a realistic style, the image of a cut lemon placed beside a gently flickering candle reflects themes of transience, quiet mystery, and the passage of time.

Soft, subdued lighting and restrained tones create a moody, slightly eerie yet intimate atmosphere, encouraging contemplation and giving the work a subtle, enigmatic presence.
