"Freiheit" Contemporary Painting by Jiménez

Jerson Jimenez

The artist Jiménez´ style is immediately recognizable through his expressive, highly gestural approach to portraiture. His paintings seek to reveal the unique inner character of each subject, using dynamic brushstrokes and vibrant, overlapping colors. While the faces remain figurative and identifiable, thick layers of paint and spontaneous marks create a lively surface where abstraction and figuration merge, giving the portraits a strong emotional and psychological presence.

Color plays a central role in his work. Vibrant colors overlap and collide, portraits conveying vibrancy and vitality. The interplay between abstraction and figuration gives the paintings a strong psychological presence, the subject appears both tangible and fleeting at the same time.

Jerson Jiménez (born 1970, Dominican Republic) is a contemporary painter whose work explores emotion, intuition, and the inner world of human experience. Now based in Vienna, where he has lived for more than 30 years, his paintings emerge from a deeply personal and spiritual process in which color becomes a language of feeling and memory.

Jiménez sees art as a bridge between the visible and the unseen, inviting viewers to reconnect with their own inner landscapes. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean, and is held in numerous private collections worldwide.
