Interwoven World 2 - Painting by Gabriele Sehn

Sehn, Gabriele

Organic forms, floral structures, and vibrant color palettes merge into multi-layered pictorial spaces. This painting is rooted in an intense engagement with the beauty and fragility of nature, as well as the transformations it undergoes. The artist´s gaze focuses not only on the visible but also on what might emerge: growth, metamorphosis, and new beginnings.

Drawing on observations of nature, the artist creates distinctive visual worlds in which floral and organic elements evolve into hybrid forms: Representational elements are pared down, transformed, and translated into a visual language of signs. A particularly striking feature is the intense interplay between color and form.

Drawing on observations of nature, the artist creates distinctive visual worlds in which floral and organic elements evolve into hybrid forms. Proliferating plant-like structures, branching patterns, and biomorphic shapes evoke underwater landscapes, forests, or unknown habitats, while simultaneously eluding precise categorization.

Representational elements are pared down, transformed, and translated into a visual language of signs. A particularly striking feature is the intense interplay between color and form. Luminous shades of red, turquoise, green, and yellow radiate a powerful vitality, making the images appear like pulsating organisms. Balancing controlled composition with the deliberate inclusion of chance, she creates works rich in dynamism, depth, and movement.

Using ink and acrylic on paper or canvas, Gabriele Sehn creates visual worlds that celebrate the diversity of life while raising questions about the future of natural habitats. Her works hover between abstraction and association, inviting the viewer to discover ever-new forms, connections, and narratives.
