Christina Schnell (aka Chrössi, *1983 Goch, Germany) studied art, theater and education in Essen. After completing her studies in 2013, she first worked in Mülheim a.d. Ruhr and then went to Hanover with her first husband for three years. When the marriage broke up, the artist returned to her home region. Today she works as a teacher of art and theater in Bocholt.
The landscape of her home on the Lower Rhine with many cows, flat land and the wide sky, in which one you can see a special sunset every evening, is an important source of inspiration. The modest circumstances of her childhood and the rural environment characterize the artist to this day and have produced her particular experimentation.
"'Never stop!' were the words of my lecturers Eberhardt and Buse after passing my exam at the University of Duisburg-Essen, which is why I always look for new challenges after my studies and work and I like to work with different materials and coloring. The repertoire of my work is therefore very broad and constantly expanding."
A strong influence on Christina's art in the years since 2009 has her younger sister Katharina, who became mentally ill as an introverted, red-haired girl at the age of 12 years. These works reflect a particular melancholy and intensity.
The artist donates a part of the proceeds of all sold paintings to NABU (Nature Conservation League Germany) as well as to the German Animal Protection League and Greenpeace.
