Temporality and vulnerability are the main themes in my artwork. I choose my medium and topics intuitively. As my source material I use pictures of people. It is not primarly about similarity but about content. Despite that I paint and draw what I see there is a high degree of abstraction. I make the orginal image of my own by a process of distortion and blur

The artist Irene van den Bos (1953, Velsen) has worked in the past as a teacher in drawing and as an illustrator.

Since 1999 she has had an artistic practice as an independent visual artist.

Irene van den Bos is fascinated by the vulnerability and transience of human and nature's life and its pure power and beauty.

"When I paint people, such as in the Koppen series, it's not in a classical-realistic way, but I am guided by my intuition."
