The work deliberately quotes the painting by Caspar David Friedrich "The Monk at the Sea", the lonely wanderer on the shore of the sea. As he contemplates the moon and the stars, he thinks about the infinity of the universe. How far is it to the moon, to the next star, but suddenly the imagination is interrupted and his thoughts hit the wooden fence that means the end of the world.
If we look at the picture in total, an infinite space is created. However, if we look at the individual parts of the picture, we see only four boards lined up next to each other.
But the title "The Closed Door" betrays the possibilities that the human being has, because the door is not locked, but only closed.
